Tony began his career with the City of Rialto on January 3, 2017. Hired as the Public Works Superintendent, Tony’s current responsibilities include the entire Maintenance Division of Public Works including the following divisions:

  • Street Maintenance
  • Traffic Safety
  • Graffiti Removal
  • Park Maintenance
  • Fleet Maintenance
  • Facility Maintenance
  • Landscape Maintenance Districts

Tony achieved an Associate’s Degree in Auto/Diesel Repair from Universal Technical Institute in 1997, is ASE Double Master Certified in Auto & Diesel repair since 1999, earned a Certificate in Public Works Construction Inspection from Santiago Canyon College in 2009, and is in the process of completing his Bachelor Degree in Public Administration. Tony has been working in the Public sector since June of 2003.

Maintenance Division – Streets / Traffic Safety

Current Full Time Staff: 8  Part-Time: 1

  • Maintains over 269 City street miles including repairs to potholes and sunken roadway areas.
  • Provides repairs for approximately 760 miles of sidewalks, curbs and gutters.
  • Maintains public alleyways by clearing weeds and debris.
  • Collects trash & debris from City right-of-ways.
  • Performs weed abatement services.
  • Sweeps sand and debris from bike lanes, arterial, collector and downtown streets twice a month.
  • Maintains the flow of water through drainage ditches and detention ponds receiving storm water runoff.
  • Provides the set up of road closures for emergencies, traffic accidents, fires, special events, etc.
  • Produces and maintains over 13,000 signs that are posted with the City boundaries.
  • Sign types include: Street name signs, Regulatory signs (stop signs, speed limit signs, etc.), Warning signs (stop ahead, railroad crossing, etc.), Guide signs & Special signs.
  • Performs street striping, pavement marking & crosswalk installation.

Maintenance Division – Graffiti Removal

Current Full Time Staff: 1

  • Provides in-house graffiti removal services from public & private property.

Maintenance Division – Parks

Current Full Time Staff: 7  Part-Time: 1

  • Maintains over 150 acres of landscaping including 9 City Parks, City Cemetery, City facilities, traffic medians.
  • Maintains irrigation systems for all parks, sports fields, Cemetery & City facilities.
  • Maintains 13 Baseball Fields, 3 Softball Fields, 3 Football Fields, 10 Outdoor Basketball Courts, 4 Tennis Courts & 2 Skate Parks
  • Maintains playground equipment, picnic tables, barbeques, benches & exercise equipment at all City Parks.
  • Provides tree trimming & removal.
  • Provides burial services at the Cemetery.

Maintenance Division – Fleet

Current Full Time Staff: 5

  • Maintains approximately 450 vehicles and pieces of equipment throughout the City including Police, Fire, Public Works and Administration vehicles.

Maintenance Division – Facilities

Current Full Time Staff: 5

  • Maintains 64+ City Facilities including:
  • Administration Buildings
  • Fire Stations
  • Public Works Yard & Storage
  • Sports Facilities
  • Ball Field Lighting
  • Swimming Pool
  • Parks Facilities
  • Public Facilities such as Library, Metrolink Station, Senior Center and Historical Buildings

Maintenance Division – Landscape Maintenance

Current Full Time Staff: 1

  • Provides contract management services for landscaping and tree trimming throughout the City.
  • Provides technical support and plan check related to landscape services and new development.
