Trained library staff assists learners in their quest to become literate by helping with the selection of reading/writing workbooks, career/job resources, and family/parenting materials. Early learning and preschool story hours are offered at the library where families receive information about literacy services, programs and events. Library staff also provide reference services and instruction at free weekly basic computer classes for adult learners with little to no computing skills.

In 1986 the Bethune Center was created out of a need to address the problem of high unemployment among youth in San Bernardino County. The Bethune Center provides pre-employment skills training and academic enrichment, along with job search assistance and job development. In a supportive environment, Bethune Center students learn the correct way to seek employment, and more importantly, they learn how to stay employed. The Program is designed for youth who want to work but need additional training and job assistance to find the “Right” job.

Fit 4 Kids is conducted by the Rialto Recreation & Community Services Division at the Rialto Racquet & Fitness Center. It is a multi-faceted program designed to address the problem of childhood obesity of elementary and middle school age children in Rialto. Children in the Fit 4 Kids program will receive the physical, educational, and psychological tools they will need to help them overcome the challenges of obesity. Children will participate in team sports, individual sports/activities, cardiovascular, strength and full body fitness training. In addition, they will receive critical education in the areas of health, nutrition and fitness. Finally, parents and caregivers will be provided with important information on how they can best support their children in their endeavors to overcome the challenges of obesity and its related physical and emotional problems.
