About the Program

The Fire Explorers are sponsored by the Rialto Fire Department and Learning for Life. Through classroom instruction, hands-on training and volunteer work, Explorers gain a base of knowledge and experience that benefit them not only in fire service careers but in all future endeavors. The program encourages safety, accountability, fitness, communication, teamwork and leadership.

We teach the necessary skills needed to ride along with firefighters and paramedics. Participants will learn all aspects of working within the Fire Department including training and day-to-day operations. You will be able to do most of the training maneuvers alongside professional Rialto Fire Fighters.

Program benefits include career development, life skills, community relations, and character education.

Our Fire Department has attended the Inland Empire Explorer Academy for the past several years.  Academies include education and hands-on training in the following:

  • Auto Extrication
  • Confined Space Rescue
  • Hazardous Materials Training
  • Structure Fires
  • Wildland Firefighting

Our next recruitment deadline is June 24, 2023
