Trash & Recycling Service Rules

Plants absorb carbon dioxide, produce oxygen, filter out pollutants, and cool the air.  However, excess green waste can take up room in our landfills.  Green waste containers are for yard waste and bagged food waste that can be recycled or composted.  Please note that there are items that can and cannot be placed in your container.

Acceptable Items

Items which can be placed in your green waste container include:

  • Bagged Food Waste
  • Branches smaller than six inches in diameter
  • Grass Clippings
  • Horse Manure
  • Leaves
  • Palm Fronds
  • Prunings and Twigs
  • Weeds

Unacceptable Items

Items which cannot be placed in your green waste container and should be placed in your black trash container include:

  • Branches larger than six inches in diameter
  • Cactus
  • Dog or Cat Waste

Please note, rocks, concrete, and dirt can not be placed in any curbside container.

Excess Green Waste

Excess green waste can be bundled and placed beside your green waste container for pick-up. Tie your prunings into bundles no larger than eighteen inches in diameter and four feet long. Other excess green waste may be placed in clear plastic bags or 30-gallon trash cans.
