Garage and Yard Sales

No permits are required as of March 26, 2013. Sales are limited to the first weekends in March, June, September, and December, and shall be limited to not more than three consecutive days.

All personal property to be sold at the sale shall be owned, utilized, and maintained by such persons or members of his or her family on or in connection with the premises which they occupy and shall not have been acquired or consigned to him or her for the purposes of resale.

Directional Signs Prohibited

The posting of garage sale directional signs on public property, including, but not limited to:

  • Bus Benches
  • Curbs
  • Greenbelts
  • Parkways
  • Sidewalks
  • Signs
  • Stanchions
  • Vehicle Safety Poles

Upon any parked vehicle on a public street, alley, or parking lot, or upon utility poles is unlawful. Directional signs not larger than 864 square inches may be placed on private property provided that consent has been obtained by the owner or occupant thereof. There shall be no more than four such directional signs erected by the permittee.

Violation Penalty

Violation of any of these regulations as defined in Rialto Municipal Code Chapter 5.69, shall be punishable as an infraction, with penalties for each offense up to $135.

In Case of Rain

In the case of rain or high winds, the acceptable dates may be extended for the number of days that the weather conditions prevented you from having the sale.
